Dr. Mehmet Oz and Acai Berry

Along with being a world renown cardiac Dr. Oz has great compassion for his patients. He is well known for his talent to perform the most difficult heart procedures. Born of Turkish parents in America, he has tremendous passion for his heritage, He has been a regular guest on Oprah Winfrey's show, as well as many news programs, and his acceptance of the acai berry has caught on in the U.S. Dr. Oz and acai berry make a great team.

Turkish people are said to have a predisposition for high cholesterol and other heart issues, and up until recent years ate a very healthy diet of grains and produce. However their diet has become more westernized with fatty meats, processed foods and white sugar products. One of Dr Oz's goals is to get his Turkish people back on track.

Dr. Oz as well as Dr. Perricone have proclaimed the acai berry to be the number one super food. The acai berry tree is found in the rainforests of Brazil growing on a specific palm tree. The natives of Brazil have been enjoying the benefits of the acai berry for many centuries. The past five years have seen a monumental surge of popularity for this healthy berry.

The acai berry is extremely fragile and must be freeze dried shortly after it is harvested. It is said to have more vitamins, minerals and antioxidants than any other fruit. It is produced in many different ways and a wide variety of flavors. There are health bars, powders, drinks and even health supplements available.

The news is filled with Dr. Oz and acai berry. It is true that this little berry is extremely nutritious, but the jury is still out on the actuality that weight loss occurs. However, it is a great way to go to get one's daily requirement of vitamins and minerals. - 17944
