Is smoking beneficial or harmful? Almost everyone will unanimously agree that smoking is harmful. But even certain harmful things have their benefits and smoking is no exception in this regard. Believe it or not, an overweight person is able to lose a little weight if the person smokes as smoking helps to increase your bodys metabolism. In this article, we will explore the relationship between smoking and weight loss.

Cigarettes contain a lot of harmful substances such as nicotine and tar. These poisonous substances fill up a smokers lungs and cause breathing difficulty over time. Prolong smoking also leads to lung cancer. While smoking can indeed help weight loss, you should never smoke as it will do your body more harm.

Smoking is definitely not an alternative to achieving weight loss as you may have realized that smoking does so much more harm rather than good in the long run. Diet and exercise are one of the best and safer ways to lose weight. Smoking may help you lose a little weight initially but the damage that it causes to your body and health is just not worth it.

Some people don't want to quit smoking, not just because they are addicted, but because they fear that if they ever quit smoking, they will gain a lot of weight. Well, nothing could be further from the truth! Very few people ever gain weight after they quit smoking, so you don't need to worry on that front.

The truth is, you will only gain weight until a few months after quitting smoking, that too if you were to follow an unhealthy lifestyle by eating lots of junk and fatty foods without exercising like a couch potato. Doing proper exercises regularly such as aerobics, jogging, cardio, weight lifting, resistance training, together with a healthy diet that consists of fruits and vegetables, prevents you from gaining excess weight even after you quit smoking.
