Acne Skin Care Guide

By Dan da Silva

It wasn't that long ago when acne (Zits) was considered a curse for those that suffered from this problem but things have changed. Research into skin care treatment has been advancing for some time now and as a consequence, many of them are very affective.

However, there and those that require a visit to the doctor or dermatologist.

General or preventative products form part of a large skin care market, they deal with skin creams, lotions and cleansers that can help to stop acne. We should all use products like this to maintain our skin and prevent future problems from occurring.

They work by limiting the production of sebum/oil and prevent clogging of skin pores. When the pores become clogged with this oil, bacteria which can cause the problem begin to grow.

One particular skin care treatment is an exfoliation skin peel which cleans the skin and helps control the spread of the condition. They work by reducing oil and other contaminants from the skin and in the pores, this can reduce harmful bacteria and stop their chance of growth.

The growth of the skin care market has allowed even more specialized acne products to be available without the need to visit the doctor. A bacterium that helps in the formulation of acne is stopped by creams and cleansers that contain benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid.

You should start with a product that has lower concentration of benzoyl peroxide (e.g.5%) and see how your skin responds. If this is proving difficult, your dermatologist should be able to help.

Only doctors or skin care specialists can prescribe some medications, including the use of antibiotics and certain ointments. Some specialists recommend the sufferer never tries doing this on their own as it can cause permanent skin damage.

Hormone treatment might be suggested as hormone changes can lead to acne. With all the treatments available, tackling acne is not that difficult as there are many new products available to help. - 17944
