Weight Loss During and After Menopause, Useful Tips

As it is for most women, when menopause arrives, you may notice notice weight gain, even without any change in your diet or exercise routine. When dealing with the menopause, you need to remember that your body is going through a big change.

Your body's production of estrogen has dropped and you will find that as it does so, you may be in a place where you are putting on more weight. As your body changes, the steps that you need to take to make sure that it stays healthy and fit is going to change as well.

Think of it this way, your habits had to change between your teenage years and your adulthoods. It makes sense that they would need to change from before menopause to after menopause as well.

Menopause can effect the way body fat is distributed. Estrogen levels can exceed fats around the stomach. It is very common to gain weight around menopause. Your shape may be decided by genetics as well as an increasingly sedentary lifestyle. Many women retire around this stage, and that can play a role as well.

Remember though, that there are definitely things that you can do to lose weight during and after menopause. First make sure that you are getting all the nutrients that you need. Getting calcium into your system is quite important as the reduction in estrogen will start taking away from your calcium deposits. Similarly making sure that you are going to get magnesium in your diet will help you get the calcium to where it needs to go.

Beyond that, start keeping a food journal. In every case, it's smart to be certain you are aware of just what you eat and the way it affects you. Your body is going through a lot of changes during this time in your life, and it is certainly going to have different needs. Diets that involve a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables are the best kind to keep you healthier on the whole as well as helping you keep up your energy to lose weight.

Don't forget that exercise is the primary factor in keeping your lean and fit. Take some time and really find an exercise that appeals to you.

Consider which are your options to get (and stay) active. If you can find an exercise routine that you like and can mix it with other actions, it will help you stick with the routine without getting bored.
